Many of our competitors boast about one-day polyaspartic coating systems for garage floors. The truth is that their one-day processes will not last as long as our two-day polyaspartic floors. OGI can guarantee our floors for 20 years because we use a more complex and, yes, time-consuming process. Why? When it comes to polyaspartic coatings, industry studies and manufacturers’ recommendations call for first applying an epoxy base coat to the concrete substrate.
After this, decorative vinyl color flakes can be added, followed by the polyaspartic polyurea top coat. The epoxy step, and allowing this material adequate time to cure, is crucial. Nothing penetrates deeper or bonds better to concrete than epoxy, but it requires overnight hardening to optimally bond to the concrete and form a solid foundation for the remaining layers. Competitors who offer one-day floors are either a) not using an epoxy base coat, or b) not allowing their epoxy adequate time to cure.

- Diamond-grinding of the existing concrete. Grinding creates a better, more adhesive surface for the base coat of your new floor.
- Pouring out of a high-grade polyaspartic base coat. We use 18-inch rollers to level this coat.
- Application of designer vinyl color flakes across base coat to produce the custom finish or the stone and epoxy look of your choice.
- Overnight curing to ensure bonding of the base coat to the substrate.
- Application of aluminum oxide across to create slip resistance and preserve the epoxy.
- Application of the polyaspartic polyurea topcoat. This ultra-strong epoxy offers the best protection on the market. You can walk on the surface after 24 hours and drive on it after 36.
